The Stockholm Investment Landscape

THE STOCKHOLM INVESTMENT LANDSCAPE

This infographic from The Nordic Web gives you a nice overview of the state of the investment landscape in Stockholm. Did you for instance know that during H1 2016, Stockholm based startups had already raised $1.2B – thereby surpassing the total of investments made during the whole of 2015.

We are extra happy to be able to announce that SUP46’s members follow suit by surpassing $31M during the summer, the same amount that they raised during the whole of 2015!

How to become a SUP46 member

HOW TO BECOME A SUP46 MEMBER
One question we receive quite often is how one becomes a SUP46 startup member. So we thought we would take the opportunity to tell you a bit about our screening process and what we look for when we consider companies.

Screen Shot 2016-08-08 at 09.26.13

STEP 1

To start off, every month we receive around 20 membership applications, they come in through our website where applicants have filled in our pre-screening form. These are screened by our Membership Manager and any applications from non-tech or non-startup companies are rejected straight away.

STEP 2

All other applications proceed to the second stage, in which each startup receives a full application form with more extensive questions. Once this is sent in, it is shared with SUP46’s Screening Jury, which includes representatives from our partners, investors and mentors. The Screening Jury considers all incoming applications and gives input on each case, bearing our criteria in mind:

  • Post-launch, traction and proof of concept
  • Scalable business with large market potential and global ambitions
  • Great team with winner attitude
  • Financial “stability” with 6-12 months runway
  • Interest in contributing to SUP46 community
  • Relevant recommendations / references / endorsements
  • Industries: Internet, mobile, media, gaming and IoT

STEP 3

Our Membership Manager looks at the feedback from our Screening Jury and decides whether or not to invite the startup for a personal interview or reject the application. This interview is the third stage in the process and is used for follow-up questions, to get to know the team on a personal level and also to give the startup a chance to ask any questions they might have.

STEP 4

After the interview, references are taken and the Membership Manager finally makes a decision on whether or not to accept the startup as a member or not.

Sometimes we receive recommendations from people we trust in our network for potential members. This can result in a fast-track application for the startup, although this is not the norm.

Only the most exciting and innovative companies, roughly 10% of all applications, are accepted into the SUP46 community.

THEN WHAT?

Once accepted you get the opportunity to tap into our network of world-class investors, partners, service providers and advisors. You are granted a results-based membership spanning over 12 months and will have regular check-point meetings with both our Membership Manager and Community Manager. This way we can ensure we stay updated on your progress and are able to do everything we can in order for you to grow as you set out.

Everything you need to know about our different types of memberships and the application form can be found here.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to our Membership Manager Lukas!
